Josh French - Head Coach

Coach Josh was a military brat who grew up playing lacrosse in Baltimore, MD. After his family moved to Alabama, he played for the Hoover Buccaneers and helped lead them to multiple state titles.  Coach Josh has been coaching recreational and club lacrosse since 2018.  Under his charge, our boys have consistently finished top three in the conference, most recently coaching our U12s to a 1st place finish in 2024.  Coach Josh also serves as the Director of Coaching.  

 

Jon Muffett - Assistant Coach

Coach Jon grew up in Fayetteville, NC where he played travel sports for Amateur Athletic Union basketball, baseball, and club soccer.  He spent his high school years in Charlotte, NC where he played varsity soccer and baseball. Jon went on to attend Winthrop University and Liberty University. His lifelong passion for sports lead him to work for the Carolina Panthers during their Super Bowl bid in 2015.  Coach Jon and his family relocated to Fairhope, AL in October 2020.  He has been serving as an Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the past three years and is our NGLA Representative.  Coach Jon is the Founder, Director, and Head Coach of Jesters Lacrosse, a highly successful club program rostered by many of our Bayhawks.  



Steve Rudolph - Assistant Coach

A native Memphian, Steve grew up in an athletic family and culture at Memphis University School that embraced TEAM concepts and sportsmanship. He and his two brothers played football for his dad-Jake Rudolph, a Hall of Fame football coach & athletic director for 39 years. He started coaching lacrosse in Memphis, TN in 2003 at the high school level and was successful as both an assistant and head coach for several teams over a ten-year period while contributing to the development of lacrosse in Tennessee. His Memphis experience also included coaching at the 7^th/8^th grade level in 2012.  Since relocating to Fairhope, AL he has coached the Bayhawks at 3rd/4th grade(10U), 5th/6th grade (12U) & 7^th/8^th grade (14U) levels over the past seven seasons. Steve has a true passion and love for the game and enjoys developing lacrosse skills and character in young players.


Scott Gandre - Assistant Coach

Coach Scott grew up in the Philadelphia area and has been a Lower Alabama resident since 2019.  He, and his two sons were introduced to lacrosse in 2020 through the annual Learn-to-Play event. His youngest son, Nolan, has been playing ever since, and is currently on the 7th-8th grade team. This will be coach Scott’s first year coaching lacrosse and looks forward to a successful season.

 

Michael Chamblee - Head Coach

Coach Mike grew up in central Mississippi, where his childhood was filled with a passion for basketball and track. In 2017, he and his family relocated from Meridian, MS to Fairhope. Alongside his wife Brooke, an esteemed member of our Board, Michael is a proud father of three sons, all actively engaged in lacrosse.  Over the past six seasons, their family has been dedicated members of the Bayhawks lacrosse community.  In 2024, Coach Mike served as the Assistant Coach for our 1st place U12 team and is eager to take on the head coaching role.   

 

Marric Johnson - Assistant Coach

Coach Marric grew up playing baseball, but the adventurous nature of his son, and current player, Nathan, introduced him and his family to lacrosse, a sport they would grow to love.  Coach Marric and his brother, Coach Cameron, coached multiple winning seasons over the past four years.  He will make the transition this year, moving up from the U10 to the U12 level.  Coach Marric also serves as the Treasurer and Website Manager. 


Michael Gusmus - Assistant Coach

Coach Michael Gusmus grew up in Memphis, Tennessee where he played lacrosse starting from a young age at the midfield and attack positions. He has three sons who share his love for the sport.  Coach Michael is dedicated to encouraging players regardless of their skill level and strives to get each player to reach their full potential.  He looks forward to another fun season with the Bayhawks. 

Christian Holmes - Assistant Coach

Serving his first year as a coach for the Bayhawks, Coach Christian was born and raised in North Georgia and went to school in Atlanta. Growing up, he played lacrosse at varying skill levels for over eight years. Eventually, Coach Christian relocated to Baldwin County in Fall of 2023 to be closer with family. He has a passion for helping kids learn more about lacrosse and for develop young athletes. He strives to make practices fun and engaging while also challenging players to improve their skills and understanding of the game. Outside of lacrosse, he enjoys all aspects of physical fitness and is an avid automotive enthusiast.

 

Cameron Johnson - Head Coach

Coach Cameron has successfully fulfilled the Head Coach position for the past three years in both the K-2 and U10 levels.  He has two sons, Jet and Lochlan, U10 and K-2 respectively, and his wife, Lauren, serves as an esteemed member of the Board.  Suffice to say Coach Cameron and family are all in!  Coach Cameron will take on the Head Coaching position for the fourth year, with the goal of another U10 1st place finish. 

 

Chase Mercer - Assistant Coach

Coach Chase was born and raised in Danville, IL where he competed in USA Swimming from age 5, becoming a state-ranked athlete in both Illinois and Indiana.  Upon graduating from high school Chase joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served for over 20 years until retiring as a commissioned officer in 2022.  Coach Chase and his family recently relocated to Fairhope, AL from Northern VA, where his son and daughter both spent the past three years learning to love lacrosse and look forward to continuing to learn and grow as Bayhawks.  Coach Chase is heading into his third year of coaching lacrosse, and has spent over 10 years as a youth mentor.

 

Tommy Sneed, Jr. - Assistant Coach

Coach Tommy grew up in Memphis, TN. He played football and lacrosse at Christian Brothers High School and continued playing lacrosse at the University of Tennessee. For the past three years Coach Tommy coached his son, Thomas', youth lacrosse program in Memphis. In June of 2023 they moved to Fairhope, AL from Memphis.  He moves into his second year as a U10 coach and looks forward to another successful season.  

Coach Lauren has lived all over the east coast but claims New York as her home state. Lauren began competitive swimming at the age of 5 and became a nationally ranked, high school All-American, US Open/Senior National Qualifier & was inducted into the NY State Section 5 Swimming Hall of Fame. Lauren was honored to compete at the NCAA Division 1 level for the University of Kansas where she was the captain of the KU swim team, Academic & Collegiate All-American, Nike Cup/Big 12 Medalist, & Senior National Qualifier.

As a full-time lacrosse mom, Lauren has enjoyed watching her sons, Jet & Lochlan progress in the sport. Her husband, Cameron, has coached with the Bayhawks for the past 3 years. Lauren is excited to translate her USA Swimming youth coaching experience to the lacrosse field to assist the K-2 Bayhawk athletes this season.
